SUMMARY:

Rise Up (RU) is seeking a charismatic, mission-driven leader to champion our efforts to advance gender equity and justice globally. The Director of Strategic Partnership will spearhead our efforts to develop and implement our annual fundraising strategy, secure funding from major donors (including both institutional and individual supporters), and oversee the entire donor cultivation and management process. The Director of Strategic Partnerships is also responsible for oversight of the communications and marketing function at Rise Up.

Reporting to the Executive Director and as a member of RU's Leadership Team, the Director of Strategic Partnership will lead RU's corporate and foundation fundraising strategy, individual donor relations, and stewardship of high-net-worth individuals. The Director of Strategic Partnerships is responsible for building a robust philanthropic, corporate, and individual donor development pipeline that allows Rise Up to achieve its mission, vision, and goals. The Director of Strategic Partnerships will lead the Development team of four people to generate philanthropic revenue for the organization, with the goal of initially raising $6MM-$8MM annually. The position will also play a major role in growing and diversifying our revenue, ensuring we have the resources to expand our impact.

This position will serve as lead strategist in developing new, innovative, thoughtful ways to build, expand, and steward RU's fundraising pipeline, overseeing all prospecting, cultivation, and stewardship. Their portfolio includes gifts positioned to signicantly impact the organization at the level of seven gures and above. The Director of Strategic Partnerships will also assess external trends, coordinate internally, and work to build a sustainable, robust Development program.

The Director of Strategic Partnerships will oversee the Communications and Marketing team for RU. Overseeing a staff of three people, this position will oversee the execution of a communications strategy that strengthens the organization's visibility and brand across various channels, including overseeing digital communications, marketing, strategic partnerships, and thought leadership.

This is a remote, regular full-time position based in the United States. Candidates in the U.S. are welcome to apply and will be considered, with preference for candidates based in the San Francisco Bay Area, New York City, or Washington, DC. The incumbent is expected to travel 10-15 % domestically and internationally for fund development, meetings, conferences, work retreats, and other work activities.

Full salary range for this position: $144,278 to $225,289 per year. The typical hiring range for this position is from $144,278 (minimum) to $184,784 (midpoint), based on 100% FTE. The starting salary is determined based on the candidate's knowledge, skills, experience, as well as budget availability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising, Donor Relations, and Stewardship

• Develop, lead, and execute RU's fundraising strategy to ensure RU achieves its annual revenue goals.
• As a member of the Rise Up Leadership Team, strategically represent and integrate development, communications, and marketing priorities across organizational functions, serving as a critical driver and influential decision-maker in shaping our strategic direction and defining comprehensive organizational goals.
• Build personal relationships with foundations, corporate funders, and individual donors, including leading fundraising conversations and pitches with potential 7-figure donors.
• Work with the Corporate and Foundations Development Manager and Institutional Development Coordinator, cultivate new and foster current relationships that develop a robust pipeline of foundations and corporations that support RU programs.
• Work with the Individual Development and Engagement Manager, oversee the implementation of a comprehensive individual donor relations and stewardship program that cultivates donors to annually increase their contributions.
• Develop a cross-organizational, collaborative process to establish successful strategic partnerships that allow RU to ultimately achieve its mission, vision, and goals.
• Implement a development supported growth strategy to address the yearly unrestricted funding gaps associated with the ongoing and evolving needs of our programs.
• RepresentRUatconferences,meetings, fundraising events and other interactions with high-net-worth individuals and prospects.

Communications and Marketing

• Work with the Communications and Marketing Manager, oversee the creation of all external-facing communications and marketing materials, with a focus on development-related collateral such as annual reports, fundraising appeals, and other external facing marketing tools.
• Oversee a comprehensive digital communications strategy that includes all online channels that builds visibility and engagement and drives donations to RU.
• Support in the refinement and strengthening of the RU brand through strategic marketing projects and thought leadership.

PeopleManagement

• Lead a team of four direct reports within a broader team of seven development and communications professionals, providing strategic guidance, comprehensive support, and professional mentorship to drive team performance and individual growth.
• Foster the development and communications team members' growth and ownership over their portfolios and create an environment where they can thrive and succeed, and ensure that staff meet annual goals.
• Actively contribute to making RU a diverse and equitable workplace through inclusive practices and openness to different perspectives, cultures and ideas.
• Actively build and maintain systems that allow for the growth and development of all direct reports.

Other

• Travel 10-15% domestically and internationally for fund development, meetings, conferences, work retreats, and other work activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Minimum Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and communications, with a demonstrated track record of developing and implementing successful revenue generation strategies.
• 5 years of experience with managing and supervising staff.
• Master's degree required, or substitute with bachelor's degree plus two additional years of related experience.

Other Qualifications

• Effective relationship management, interpersonal communication, and public speaking skills.
• Proven ability to develop and implement effective individual giving, foundation, and corporate fundraising strategies.
• Strong written communications skills, including expertise in proposal and report development.
• In-depth experience and knowledge of trends and best practices in non-profit fundraising, marketing, and communications.
• Superior organizational and project management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, and with diverse internal and external partners.
• Experience working on global development issues and in a multi-cultural context.
• Experience managing and working with CRM systems.
• A passion for advancing change for women and underrepresented communities.
• Ability to travel 10-15% domestically and internationally for fund development, meetings, conferences, work retreats, and other work activities.
