Minimal Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field to assigned area;
  • Three (3) years academic, career or technical management experience.
  • Three (3) years instructional management experience.




Preferred qualifications:
Preference will be given to individuals who possess:

  • Doctoral degree in higher education administration, educational leadership, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive leadership in workforce development, student services, or academic administration within a community college setting.
  • Demonstrated success in leading workforce training programs or initiatives at a two-year institution.
  • Experience in creating or managing career-technical education (CTE) and short-term credential programs that align with regional workforce needs.

Compensation
The annual salary is $85,923-$91,078. A competitive benefit package is included.

Class Summary
This position is responsible for the planning and directing instruction of many programs for the college.

Typical Essential Duties

  • Develops and implements plans and strategies to accomplish Workforce and Economic Development goals; work may involve planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating programs, projects, processes, procedures, systems, standards, and/or service offerings; ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards; working to integrate and coordinate service areas; and/or collaborating with the Board of Directors and Committees to facilitate the development of strategic plans and make recommendations.
  • Plans and directs development and instruction of non-credit continuing, community and professional education classes including Information Technology, Financial Services, Healthcare, Technical Trade Skills, Transportation, Business Services, OSHA, Adult Community Education and College for Kids programs and others.
  • Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
  • Oversees non-credit curriculum development, documentation and evaluation to ensure alignment with business and industry needs and instructional effectiveness and relevancy.
  • Plans, directs and evaluates a non-credit to credit stackable credential model to include defined curricular pathways, seamless transitions and credit for prior learning.
  • Develops and administers department and other assigned budgets; approves expenditures; reviews financial statements; manages financial operations.
  • Ensures that assigned non-credit programs operate within MCC defined policies and procedures and meet external regulatory requirements such as state licensing bodies, accrediting and certifying organizations and evaluation processes.
  • Collects and analyzes a variety of complex data and information; performs statistical analysis and summarizes findings in applicable reports or other communication mediums.
  • Serves as a liaison with other departments and students within the College in order to provide information on available resources, programs, and/or services.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with external agencies, businesses, organizations and K12 entities to identify and develop new opportunities for MCC to serve students and meet educational needs.
  • Develop, implement and monitor instructional and department program budgets in alignment with Workforce and Economic Development revenue goals to ensure the appropriate allocation of resources to meet stated goals.
  • Plan and direct grant-funded instruction and activities within the requirements and processes as defined by the funding source including instructional, reporting and budgeting activities.
  • Serves as a liaison and primary contact for an assigned area to facilitate program and departmental public relations, communications, and outreach efforts; represents the department and/or College at a variety of meetings, public events, training sessions, on committees, and/or other related events.
  • Oversees enrollment processes including 3rd party billing and potential student advisement.

Physical Requirements
Positions in this class typically require reaching, standing, walking, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
