Role & Team Description:

We have a software engineering role focused on artificial intelligence within our AI Core Technologies team. We are responsible for delivering complete software stacks for a variety of production and concept AI services. Our team is passionate about delivering industry-leading mobile innovation, and this is an exciting opportunity to join our AI team in the heart of downtown Chicago!

Scope of Responsibilities:

As a member of the AI Core Technologies team, your role will include designing and developing new mobile experiences that leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning. You will be asked to:

  • Cultivate a strong engineering culture at Motorola as it pertains to our software experiences and performance within the Android mobile ecosystem

  • Develop and expand our AI Core software to support new experiences and platforms.

  • Drive improvement of technologies enhancing quality, performance, and efficiency

  • Collaborate with external teams to ensure effective and timely development and integration of new functionality and end-to-end experiences

  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI/ML and related technologies


Basic Qualifications:

  • BS/MS degree in CS, EE, or a related engineering discipline

  • Experience in mobile development (Android/iOS) and cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure)

  • Experience with Python, Linux OS, C, C++, Java, Kotlin, and backend frameworks


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of AI/ML techniques and frameworks including custom model development and training

  • Familiarity with wireless protocols (e.g. broadband cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, USB, etc..) and motion sensors

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Agile development background as well as experience with Android Studio, Git, Gerrit, and Jira

  • Experience implementing various design patterns with strong algorithmic, data structure, and object oriented programming skills
