Job Summary

Collaborates with the School Director, coordinates and executes communication strategies, including marketing, media relations, social media, and public relations, for the Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media to advance its individual goals, while contributing to CARTA's and the University's mission and goals. Collaborates with the Division of Strategic Communications, Government and External Affairs on all collateral materials to ensure unified messaging and FIU brand integrity.

  • Collaborates with the School Director, coordinates and executes communication strategies, including marketing, media relations, social media, and public relations, for the Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media to advance its individual goals, while contributing to CARTA's and the University's mission and goals.
  • Writes, revises, and copyedits promotional materials prepared on behalf of the Lee Caplin School of Journalism + Media in conformance with University guidelines.
  • Collaborates on the creation and editing of videos and photography to support digital and printed story telling for the Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media.
  • Oversees coordination of events within the Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media as needed.
  • Promotes, through social media and other channels, internal and external news items related to Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media, including but not limited to events, student success stories, faculty profiles, program rankings, alumni spotlights, and any other strategic information.
  • Ensures that all social media accounts, amplifies and engages based on pre-established guidelines. Engages with audiences on social media platforms (e.g., responding to comments, answering questions, etc.).
  • Creates and curates content for website updates, business brochures, flyers, special event materials, news releases and videos as directed, using various communications media, including CARTA News.
  • Collaborates on the creation and editing of videos and photography to support digital and printed story telling for the Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media.
  • Collaborates with CARTA Dean's Office Communication Team and Government and External Affairs, manages and curates the Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media's branding adhering to the University protocols and College policies.
  • May supervise lower level staff and students.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Media/Public Relations, Communications or appropriate degree and three (3) years of experience in a related field.
