Description

Position Summary:

The Community Outreach Coordinator works to ensure the delivery of quality outreach services to WestCare Kentucky, our community partners, leaders, and stakeholders in designated service areas. This role coordinates with local community agencies on events and meetings. And communicates with staff accordingly.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Design and implement overall recruiting strategy, client referral program, and referral network data base.
  • Maintain referral data base to reflect current community partners and stakeholders and report the current database to Regional Vice President.
  • Perform job and task analysis to document community outreach requirements and objectives.
  • Prepare recruitment materials and promote WestCare service provision to appropriate stakeholders and referral sources.
  • Source and recruittreatment candidates through social media, telephone, email, and face-to face meetings with stakeholders.
  • Assess stakeholders knowledge about WestCare services.
  • Assess stakeholder barriers to WestCare referrals, formulate, implement and brief stakeholders on solutions.
  • Provide analytical and well documented recruiting reports to the Regional Vice President.
  • Act as a point of contact and build influential stakeholder relationships.
  • Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision and goals of WestCare Foundation.
  • Support the analysis of community-based qualitative action research.
  • Monitor and coordinate all outreach activities and report to the KY Regional Vice President and Regional Administrator.
  • Design and coordinate work events and special projects
  • Assist WestCare KY staff with the development of marketing and informational brochures and make aware of the recommendations to WestCare Marketing Department.
  • Identify media outlets and methods of communication within all areas of service.
  • Collaborate with all community partners and stakeholders (i.e., contract vendors and community agencies who provided letters of support) to promote referrals to WestCare service provision.
  • Collaborate with WestCare Kentucky staff on planning, implementation, and delivery of prevention, treatment, recovery and harm reduction services and education to community partners and stakeholders.
  • Serve as a community contact person to conduct program presentations and updates as needed.
  • Engage, recruit and maintain community support and involvement.
  • Must be able to work as a team leader to organize and hold events in WestCare Kentucky rural service areas.
  • Attend in-person and virtual program conferences and meetings, community meetings, and events as deemed necessary.
  • Assist the KY Regional Administrator with developing and maintaining positive relationships and linkages with participants, community leaders, local groups and organizations, and government agencies.
  • Identify and track new relationships with additional businesses, government officials, agency leaders and other influential individuals that will support WestCare Kentucky Mission and Vision.
  • Work closely with the Continuum of Care (CoC) in service areas.
  • Ability to manage time between multiple facilities to meet expected outcomes.
  • Attend necessary integrated staff team meetings.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

Certifications/Licenses:



  • Valid driver's license is required and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare vehicle insurance.



Education:



  • Graduation from an accredited two-year Community College or a four-year College/University with a degree in Communication, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or related human services field to the position is preferred.
  • Current and/or previous experience in outreach with at least 2-4 years will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience working with the population of focus or closely related population.


Experience and Competencies:



  • Basic knowledge of behavioral health, social services, judicial system, law enforcement, veteran services or related industry.
  • Experience in providing community outreach, marketing and promotions.
  • Experience working with the population of focus or closely related population.
  • Excellent communication skills including public speaking and group facilitation/training.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to adhere to the highest standard of ethical conduct and confidentiality.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Must be culturally/linguistically sensitive to populations served.
  • Research and evaluate data.

Working Conditions:



  • Work is primarily performed off-site and in an office
  • Some outdoor activities and travel will be required.
  • Some travel will be required to trainings and conferences.
  • Regular and prompt attendance is required throughout employment.

Physical Demands:



  • Requires mobility and physical activity: Having an adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in an office or outdoor environment including standing and walking (even and uneven surfaces), sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, occasional lifting and carrying of up to fifty pounds. Use of computer and telephone systems is required which includes coordination of eye and hand, and proper utilization by the hands (typing, writing, and working with files).

  • Requires seeing: Clarity of vision including proper eyewear at 20 inches or less and at distance.
  • The normal work routine involves no exposure to human blood, body fluids or tissues. However, exposure or potential exposure may be required as a condition of employment. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be readily available to every employee.

  • Requires the ability to collect and analyze complex numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions.
