Inova Physical Therapy Center in Arlington (Ballston) is looking for Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (LPTA) to join our outstanding team. This position is Full-Time, Day Shifts - (40 hrs/week), Monday- Friday and two evening shifts per week until 7:00pm.

Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant 1 Job Responsibilities:

The Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant 1 adheres to department policies regarding time frame, appropriate form, and content of written rehabilitation documentation. Communicates effectively with patients, family, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors, and outside contacts. Completes all administrative and other responsibilities in support of the operating unit. Demonstrates essential skill in the use of treatment modalities, equipment, and protocols. Performs reassessments according to state and facility guidelines, while adjusting treatment plans accordingly.

  • Completes daily progress notes that reflect patients' responses to treatment and actual performance as well as an assessment as to status, relevant to the treatment plan, and eventual discharge needs/treatment summaries when applicable.
  • Instructs ancillary staff in patient positioning, mobility, and caregiving. Educates patients and/or families in home exercise programs, transfers, caregiving, home safety, and the use of adaptive equipment.
  • Documents clearly, concisely, and legibly within established timeframes (e.g. allows other therapists to continue treatment, allows for interpretation by payers, supports reimbursement).
  • Contacts families, physicians, or other healthcare team members in anticipation of patient/family special needs in a timely manner to facilitate effective treatment plans.
  • Provides educational materials and methods appropriate to the patient's level of understanding and motivation.
  • Selects treatment methods appropriate to patients' diagnosis, age group, and physical and emotional status.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate degree from a licensed physical therapy assistant program.
  • Experience: Graduate of a licensed physical therapy assistant program, new graduate of a licensed physical therapy assistant program
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association required upon start.
  • Licensed: VA License Physical Therapy Assistant required upon start
