Job Description
The Charge Nurse is responsible for the daily operations of the Pre Surgical Testing department. Daily duties include, but are not limited to, supervision of throughput of the patient arrival & preparation for surgery/procedure. Additional duties include but are not limited to: patient schedule maintenance of pre surgical testing, 6-week staff schedule, break/lunch planning, PROACT/Service Recovery procedures, attendance of department & facility assigned meetings/communication sessions, supervision of chart completion & accuracy of data recorded by the staff nurse. The Clinical Nurse/Charge Nurse-Pre-Surgical Testing provides care and education for the patient based on their illness, symptoms, and courses of treatment. They manage individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. The Clinical Nurse/Charge Nurse-Pre-Surgical Testing collects data on patient medical/surgical history, medication history, & current prescribed treatment and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team in order to optimally prepare the patient for their surgery/procedure. The Clinical Nurse/Charge Nurse works under the supervision of the clinical manager & director of Surgical Services. The Clinical Nurse/Charge Nurse performs technical skills and provides assistance to surgeons, anesthesia personnel, and other professionals in the Pre-Surgical Testing department. Responsibilities
