JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Eberly College of Science, Department of Physics in open quantum systems at The Pennsylvania State University is looking to hire postdoc scholars. We are seeking candidates with enthusiasm for active participation in open quantum systems projects that transcend disciplinary boundaries. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work with faculty and students from physics, mathematics, and/or computer science. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in open quantum systems and at least one of the following: quantum field theory, quantum information, out-of-equilibrium dynamics, theoretical cosmology, particle physics, gravity, or quantum algorithms. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a high aptitude for theoretical research and actively contribute to the collaborative research environment at Penn State.

Upon appointment, the successful candidate will work closely with faculty members Prof. Prof. Zhen Bi, Eugenio Bianchi, Prof. Martin Bojowald, Prof. Xiantao Li, Prof. Sarah Shandera and Prof. Chunhao Wang.

These are term positions funded for two-years with the possibility of a one-year extension. The appointment includes a competitive salary, full benefits, and an annual research and travel fund.Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field prior to the start date.
