Position Summary:
Under the leadership of the Executive Director, the Director for Program Operations and Outreach is responsible for leading and supervising staff in planning, implementing, conducting outreach, researching and evaluating K-20 programs and initiatives sponsored by the Center for Pre-College Programs (CPCP). The Director for Program Operations and Outreach is expected to work occasional weekends and evenings to fulfill leadership responsibilities. Essential Functions:
Essential functions of the Director for Program Operations and Outreach include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Planning, implementing, researching and assessing credit and non-credit bearing programs and activities for the K-20 student population in collaboration with the CPCP Leadership Team, cluster staff and other NJIT staff, as appropriate;
2. Designing, restructuring, and implementing state-of-the-art program offerings to address the learning needs of pre-college students across a wide spectrum of preparedness and experiences, with special focus on the underserved and underrepresented in STEM fields;
3. Recruiting, hiring, leading, supervising, and evaluating staff to support program implementation and ensure that all work-related responsibilities are performed at optimal standards of professionalism and integrity to advance the mission and goals of CPCP;
4. Developing and managing budgets to support program implementation, staffing, and office operations;
5. Engaging in grant-writing and other fundraising activities, to help sustain programs and develop new opportunities to serve the K-20 student population;
6. Developing, managing, and preparing budget reports for grant programs;
7. Working in collaboration with Office of Advancement and Development personnel to prepare and submit program and budget reports for submission to sponsors of special initiatives;
8. Establishing formal partnerships with private, public, and community stakeholders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to increase their engagement in CPCP-sponsored activities;
9. Implementing CPCP's new Slate platform to facilitate data collection and management related to cluster programs including, but not limited to, student demographics, registration for dual and concurrent enrollment, and program research/assessment;
10. Conducting outreach to public school districts to increase awareness and participation of students, instructional staff, and administrators, as well as parents and siblings of currently and/or previously enrolled student participants, in CPCP programs, especially fee-based initiatives; and
11. Conducting outreach to various constituent groups and key contacts at the local, state, and national levels to advocate and garner support, including funding, for CPCP programs and activities. Additional Functions:
Perform other duties as assigned.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Master's degree required with at least 10 years of related experience in a K-20 school setting.
- Must have strong management, development, planning, and organizational skills. Effective verbal and written communications and stakeholder relations skills are essential.
- Must have knowledge of, and facility with, Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint; financial management systems such as Banner; Google Workspace platforms; and virtual platforms such as Zoom.
- Must possess knowledge of state and national curriculum standards, as well as experience in the development and assessment of curriculum, instructional strategies, and learning outcomes in STEM education.
- Must have experience in the areas of personnel supervision, budget development and management as well as research and evaluation.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree preferred in STEM and/or K-20 education.
