Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs proper recording of procedures related to research studies in the laboratory and for the systematic organization of experimental data including the adequate care, maintenance and calibration of equipment and apparatus used in research studies.
- Assists Principal Investigator in the day-to-day management for the laboratory such as ordering supplies and equipment to ensure adequate supplies are on hand.
- Performs literature searches pertaining to this area of research and keeps abreast of the latest literature published as it relates to the specific work at hand.
- Presents experimental findings and results to the Principal Investigator and other members of the research team and will make a final recommendation.
- Carries out statistical analyses of generated data and prepares explanatory graphs and charts for use in the presentation of results and the preparation of manuscripts for publication.
- Assists in the writing of narrative portions concerning methodology utilized by the laboratory for inclusion in research proposals and manuscripts to be submitted to medical and/or scientific journals concerning the experimental results produced in the laboratory.
- Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Minimum Education: Required: Bachelors Degree Specify Degree(s): Molecular Biology, Biology, Biochemistry or Chemistry Minimum Experience: Required: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience
Qualifications
- Dermatology background preferred.
- Must possess the ability to ascertain whether and how new methodologies can be applied in his/her laboratory to result in increased laboratory productivity.
- Ability to adapt to new techniques to establish research plan.
- Ability to work independently and is expected to ensure the integrity of the results.
