Ultra-Rare Disease Clinical Educator

Northwest-Seattle, WA-WA State


The Clinical Educator is a field-based team that works as part of the Patient Access and Support Services organization. The Educator is responsible for disease state education to HCPs, patients, and caregivers around our client's ultra-rare disease states area of focus. The Educator will also work to resolve genetic testing issues with offices as requested working with the account team.

Extensive domestic travel may be required. To succeed, the candidate will have a sustained reputation for putting the patient first and foremost, as well as a values-driven work style where integrity and grit drive all behaviors, decisions, and actions.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately $148K-155K. The salary range displayed may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant's skills, prior relevant experience, certain degrees, certifications, and other relevant factors.

This is a salaried position with a competitive base salary, all approved business travel expenses reimbursed, full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401K, company paid long-term, short-term and life insurance coverage, mental wellness program, paid holidays, generous PTO and more.

Key Activities

This team will transition to support our pharmaceutical client in the following areas:

  • Patient Support Programs
  • Advocacy Building
  • Supportive HCP education
  • Enhanced testing support
  • Additional disease awareness activities
  • Host disease state "Meet Ups" virtually and or in-person
  • Support Patients who have "opted-in" to our client's Patient Portal with proactive activities including outreach to encourage family variant testing, proactive engagement to educate patients/caregivers around disease, education around other patient support/advocacy organizations and encourage enrollment in patient programs
  • Recruitment of patients for participation in Marketing sponsored events such as: patient advisory board and focus groups, etc
  • Additional patient support activities as needed, including nights and weekends attendance
  • Build advocacy at region and local levels by finding new potential advocacy opportunities, travel to different regions within the territory.
  • Provide resources to patient advocacy groups to connect patients
  • Educate about proper genetic testing through Pharma third party sponsored programin designated alternative specialties to find if they are viable leads for the RAM/TAM team
  • Lead non-branded webinars with disease state and content curated for patients and caregivers with the ultra-rare disease.
  • Bring awareness and drive enrollment in patient organizations and Global Genes with patient and HCP education.
  • Work collaboratively with multiple cross-functional areas to help drive success
  • Identify, develop, and execute a multidisciplinary team approach
  • Weekly travel covering a multi-state territory including MN, AK, OR, WA and other if needed.

Experience

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited University or College is required
  • Advanced scientific training or academic credentials establishing strong clinical acumen, typically consisting of a scientific or clinical degree or certification in a relevant life science is preferred (e.g., RN, RD, NP, etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience within the genetic testing milieu are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and cross-collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • 2+ years field-based experience in biopharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • Proven track record of delivering results that meet or exceed targeted objectives
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, navigate complexity, and be creative and solutions-oriented
  • Rare disease, orphan drug, and specialty pharmacy distribution experience is preferred
  • This role requires the ability to provide clinical/scientific education to aid in the strategic accounts
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Capable of traveling 65%+ of the time via air and auto
  • Ability to work nights and weekends to attend patient advocacy, support events
  • Willing to cover multiple states in the Northwest region, beyond the home base WA, territory including MN, OR, AK
  • Strong technical meeting platform skills to work both in person and virtually training/educating HCPs and patients
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and TEAMs, Zoom and other software as needed
  • Safe driving record with a valid driver's license
  • Passion for patients
