THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections, Williamsport District Office is seeking an organized, positive individual to provide clerical support to our office.

Senate Bill 411 merged the Department of Corrections and the Board of Probation and Parole. This position is within the Department of Corrections.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Clerical Assistant 2 you will provide clerical and office support. You will be responsible for filing, typing a variety of documents, and inputting data for various departments within the institution. This position will operate office equipment and maintain computer databases and records.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours/week.
  • Work hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $34,621 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (commonwealth title); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):
  • 3 years of experience using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • 2 years of experience answering and assisting with incoming telephone calls
  • 2 years of experience utilizing various office equipment such as a personal computer, copying machine, facsimile machine, and postage meter

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
