Department:PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT Organizational Unit:Roadway and Bridge (50000074) Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time Open Until Filled. $27.70 to $30.47 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. North Area/Titusville. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.Performs skilled crafts and trades work supervising activities and crews involved in the development, construction, repair and maintenance of roads, streets, highways, parking lots, impoundment areas, and landfills. Supervises work crews. REQUIREMENTS: Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the construction, repair and/or maintenance of public works projects related to roadways, drainage systems, and infrastructure, which includes experience reading and interpreting construction plans. Must have a working knowledge of the different types of heavy equipment used to maintain roadways and drainage systems and the ability to schedule and supervise crews. Must have working knowledge in the use of personal computers, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or other similar software and electronic work management systems. Must have a working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations relating to the construction of roads, sidewalks, and drainage infrastructure and the occupational hazards associated with and the safety practices used in the construction, repair, and maintenance of road and drainage infrastructure. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver's license. Must possess, or obtain within nine (9) months of employment, a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment.Work is performed both indoors in an office environment and outdoors in the field and involves exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, insects, working in and around moving machinery and traffic, and extreme weather conditions. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
