Job Summary

The primary function of this position is to serve as a licensed study therapist for clinical research studies. Staff are required to hold an active license in good standing. And will work with research investigators and research staff to guide participants through standard research protocols and therapy manuals. Study therapists will be required to have excellent knowledge of several standard research protocols and of current practices for providing supportive therapy (e.g. ACT) Their responsibilities will include leading therapy sessions with participants, overseeing the clinical practice of masters level trainees, administering assessments, and completing questionnaires and notes about the participants.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $73.11 - $73.11 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description

The UCSF Department of Psychiatry is among the nation's foremost resources in the field of child, adolescent and adult mental health. Psychiatry faculty members are recognized for their leadership roles in state-of-the-art, comprehensive and compassionate patient care, pioneering research, excellence in training the next generation of leaders, advancing public policy to advance mental health, and commitment to diversity.

Required Qualifications

* Master's degree from an accredited school of social work, possession of a Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners, and three years of post-master's experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
* Familiarity with standard research methodology to ensure quality data collection.
* Understanding of research requirements and practice, including good clinical practice, human subjects protection and HIPAA
* Experience working with psychiatric and medical populations, eg. bipolar disorder, depression and Parkinsons disease
* Excellent clinical skills; experience assessing patients for cognitive impairment/dementia, formulating client treatment plans, providing referrals and follow-up to clients. Minimum two years of experience
* Excellent communication skills for working with patients, clinic staff, and research staff.
* Meets requirements necessary for credentialing at the UCSF Medical Center

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience/interest working in diverse, community settings.
* Possesses education, licenses, and other requirements for credentialing by the UCSF Medical Center.
* Fluency in a second language (Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese) preferred

License/Certification

• Possession of a clinical social worker license (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners
