Job Summary:

The Department of Radiology, University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking to establish a team of Emergency Medicine Radiologists with a focus on ED imaging to better serve the Emergency Department. This position will read the ED studies during the busiest period in the ED, with possible future expansions of the Section to cover additional hours. The successful applicant will be expected to read a reasonable volume of the total ED studies performed during their shift, with the other subspecialty sections also reporting some studies. The successful applicant will work with the on-call radiology residents, reviewing, teaching, and cosigning their reports as well as separately dictating studies themselves. On-site presence is not required.

The Emergency Radiologists will report to the Vice Chair of Operations or Associate Vice Chair of Operations.

For appointments hired on the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) Track:
The successful applicant will participate in administrative, and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

This vacancy is being announced simultaneously with Position Vacancy # 293642. Please note that only one vacancy exists. Having two position vacancy listings allows the School of Medicine and Public Health to consider candidates with both tenure-track faculty credentials and non-tenure-track faculty credentials for this position.


Responsibilities:

The Emergency Medicine Radiologist position will support the Emergency Department, providing coverage for ED diagnostic imaging studies (X-ray, CT, MR, Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine), as well as OR radiographs where there is an incorrect instrument count, and the missing surgical object is not seen by the Radiology resident. No interventional radiology procedures will be performed. Department teaching will be of residents.

This position is designed for coverage of the Emergency Department (ED) during its busiest hours, and the section may expand in the future and alter shift hours. Currently, the shift is from 4:30pm until 1:00am (CST), scheduled 7 days on, 14 days off, starting Monday afternoon at 4:30pm through late Sunday night, Monday 1:00am (CST).
