POSITION SUMMARY

The Plant Supervisor assists the Plant Manager in the management of production operations to achieve optimum utilization at the lowest operating cost. This position is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by enforcing the company's safety policies and procedures, MSHA, and other regulations. Individual is responsible for supervising the activities of production and maintenance hourly employees. Is also responsible for directing and coordinating the daily activities of employees and providing oversight to the safety, quality control, plant efficiencies and preventative maintenance of the plant and equipment.

Essential Functions
* Supervises activities of hourly production and maintenance employees. May perform hands-on repair work when necessary

* Participates in the recruitment process which may include screening and hiring hourly production and maintenance employees

* Schedules production requirements to support daily, weekly and monthly sales forecast to meet customer's needs

* Individual provides coaching and disciplinary counseling to employees under his or her area of responsibility (includes employee relations and administration of collective bargaining agreements)

* Ensures that employees receive proper training and instructions to perform job duties

* Schedule and assign employee's work based on production needs (manpower planning)

* Administers and enforces Company and Area policies and procedures

* Works with SHE department and Company officials to promote a safe work environment that meets all State and Federal rules and regulations and ensures that the plant meets all SHE policies and practices at the site location

* Works closely with salespeople and customers to ensure that Area products meet customer needs and expectations (to include customer visits)

* Works on the implementation of cost saving programs and/or continuous improvement activities to reduce costs and improve operating efficiency

* Participates in Operations short and long range business planning

* Attends daily production meetings on the daily running and operations of the plant

* Participate in plant inspections on a regular basis

* Other duties may be assigned as required.


Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education:

High School Diploma required. BS / BA degree, Associates degree, or an equivalent combination of training and work experience preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years experience in processing and maintenance. One (1) year of supervisory experience is preferred. Construction materials industry experience preferred.
