Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs and Success and Chief Research Officer (AVP), the Director of Faculty Personnel provides leadership, management, and guides the daily operations of Faculty Affairs and Success, and supervises staff and student personnel. The incumbent supports the work of the Office of the Provost and manages specific functions within Faculty Affairs, including, but not limited to, management and guidance of staff in performance of duties, and maintenance of currency with relevant laws, regulations, collective bargaining agreement provisions, and CSU and campus policies and procedures.

Key Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of 4 years of experience in faculty personnel issues and programs, including 3 years of progressively responsible and applicable management and/or supervisory experience. Bachelor's degree is required, or equivalent combination of education and experience to provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. A graduate degree and higher education experience are highly preferred. Prior experience in interpreting union contracts, understanding the nature and complexities of faculty recruitment, temporary faculty appointments, faculty compensation, sabbatical, difference in pay and other leaves, and grievances is preferred. Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required. Knowledge of Google Suite, PageUp, Onbase, Interfolio and PeopleSoft preferred.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $7,667 to $10,134 a month. This position is a member of the Management Personnel Plan and serves at the pleasure of the President.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year. Sonoma State University is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Employer.
