Description and Requirements
This role is for a Component Library engineer in the Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG), based in Morrisville, North Carolina. This role is core to the Server Development organization in providing the ECAD component library necessary to design and deliver innovative server designs across ISG. This librarian will be on a team responsible for the creation and maintenance of Printed Circuit Board (PCB) component models including logic, footprints padstack and component metadata, while ensuring they are compliant with JEDEC and IPC industry standards. Engagement with engineering, supplier quality teams and card manufacturing will be required to keep the library compliant to deliver new and existing server designs with the highest quality to maintain exceptional reliability for our customers. This candidate will be an active member of the development team that is highly motivated to engage, understand and solve the technical challenges of today and shape the server designs of tomorrow.
Responsibilities:
  • Creation and maintenance of ECAD component models using the Cadence library development tools
  • Fully document all library supported processes & specifications
  • Support component revision control
  • Execute tasks and support the library component request/tracking system
  • Coordination with Component Engineering for any issues around creation or maintenance of components in the ECAD library
  • Work with Cadence Application Engineers to debug Library and Design Issues
  • Daily Interface with all World Wide Engineering Customers & Engineers as Project/Program needs arise
Basic Qualifications:
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering
  • At least 2 years experience in Component Schematic and Library creation using Cadence Allegro Library Development tools. Specific Library tools experience includes:
    • EDM Project Manager
    • Allegro Library Manager
    • Allegro PCB Librarian Expert
    • Allegro Part Developer
    • Allegro ECAD/MCAD Library Creator
    • Allegro Design Entry (Concept)
  • At least 2 years of experience with ECAD PCB Library and PCB Development
  • Previous experience interpreting Manufactures' component datasheets
  • Prior experience in extracting data centric attributes from vendor supplied spreadsheets for automated symbol development and verification
  • Understand electronic symbols and how they interconnect to each other
  • Proficiency in written communication for procedure and standards documentation
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Additional expertise with Cadence Tools, including:
    • Pulse Data Manager
    • System Capture
    • Allegro PCB Editor
    • Sigrity signal integrity and Power integrity
  • Familiarity of PCB design processes to analyze library change requests to recommend best course of action to implement library changes
  • Utilize engineering experience to address questions from System EEs on component usage in the design tools
  • Familiarity with the Cadence SPB design flow and schematic to board netlisting flow
  • Familiarity with PLM systems
  • Industry Standards (IPC, IEEE, JEDEC, Corporate) padstack and footprint and schematic symbol development expertise
  • Ability to debug Cadence Design Entry HDL or System Capture netlist errors as part of the card project development process
  • Expertise in physical footprint creation or verification
