The Silicone Group Operator is responsible for quality of product and workmanship and participation in activities designed to improve customer satisfaction, quality, and productivity. The duties encompass all aspects of the Silicone manufacturing process, including transfer molding, mold assembly, finishing, blasting, mixing, blending, freshening, metal processing, fabrication, post baking, part marking, product assembly, painting, testing, and inspection. The Operator must meet the requirements of the learned skill and demonstrate proficiency before an increase in pay is warranted.

This position falls within the scope of the FAA Drug and Alcohol program and potential employees must pass FAA Drug Screen upon hire and submit to random testing as required.

Candidates must be able to work off shift (2nd or 3rd shift) for an extended period of time; likely multiple years.

  • Contribute daily to production coordination meetings at shift start, providing advice and suggestions to ensure production goals are met. Discuss specific problems with off-going shift operator to avoid repeat problems. Rotate job assignments to keep technical skills current in all operations to meet production needs. Duties may involve using equipment in other departments to produce Silicone products.
  • Perform caustic etch, adhesive application, fabrication, transfer molding, visual bond check, water honing and cleaning of silicone parts.
  • Performs a variety of duties, which may include a combination of the following skills: stockroom controls, jitney operation, oven operation, mold assembly, mold set-up and press set-up.
  • Perform inspection functions including: elastomer preflex, visual inspection, part testing and duties of a certified operator, including final inspection of product. Maintain valid operator certification status.
  • Blend, mix and freshen elastomer by operating barwell and mixer, elastomer mills, preparing third cycle batches, curing TL-440 specimens and material control.
  • Perform painting and various assembly operations, including part marking and application of protective coatings.
  • Understand and follow drawings, specifications, procedures and instructions. Utilize computers and software to access necessary documents.
  • Identify and participate in resolving manufacturing difficulties and customer service, quality, and productivity problems.
  • Complete all paperwork and computer transactions accurately and timely. Complete appropriate labor accounting and stockroom control transactions correctly. Input necessary quality data as required.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, production support, and customers. Work effectively in a team environment. Provide training for new operators as required, perform other similar and related duties.

Required:

  • High School Diploma
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal

Preferred:

  • Trade school experience
  • 1-2 years of manufacturing operations experience
  • Mechanical skills/abilities
